The secrets of the rich and famous.
Have you ever wondered how wealthy people stay so rich? It was said that if you were to share the worlds wealth with the entire world that it would eventually make it’s way back to the hands of the rich because we're not taught how to generate money, save money and then how to multiply our earnings.
I wish I was taught in school how to be rich. I’m not sure what you may have studied in school or what courses were available to you but for myself I completed a course in Business.
Like most kids I was confused and unsure about what I wanted to do after I finished school.
We leave school and then enter the world in uncertainty and for most of us we don’t want to grow up and take on the responsibilities of being an adult.
It’s a scary transition, all of a sudden you go from being dependent on your parents and doing school work, to then being independent and taking on the big wide world by yourself. You’re told to find a full-time job, find a partner, settle down, buy a house and have kids. This is what our society tells us we should do, to just join the status quo mindset but this kind of thinking didn’t quite fit in my mind.
You have to grow inside before it will BE projected outside.
When I was 15 I wanted to start my own business. My dream was to have a successful business, have financial freedom and change the world but I had absolutely no idea what sort of business I would create, no business plan and no direct vision. When I graduated from school and it was time to step out into the real world and become a man. A business man! Was I really ready?
For myself, I fell back on the one thing that brought me certainty in my life and that was the security of a 9 to 5 job. It took me 6 years of being lost and confused and my dream of being successful and rich had been totally forgotten, before I stumbled upon a multimedia course that would change the foundations of my life. I found my creative mojo and I was able to produce some great quality work and thus I found my calling.
Looking back I could’ve applied myself a lot sooner and I wished I studied a lot more, planned more and got a jump on life a lot earlier. Time is precious but how much time do we truly waste? You have an opportunity right now to be all that you can be and it begins with working on yourself, building upon the foundations of your business through reading and listening to other successful business owners and then you will see the flow of money and wealth pouring into your life.
Books will build your business wealth.
When I think of reading books to improve myself and my business I am reminded of this quote by Jim Rohn that was taught to him by his mentor Mr. Shoaff and it goes like this “life puts some of the more valuable things on the high shelf so that you can't get to them until you qualify. If you want the things on the high shelf, you must stand on the books you read. With every book you read, you get to stand a little higher.”
To be truly successful in business and in life in general you need to first work on yourself. The more you educate yourself and surround yourself with successful people the more that their influence will rub off on you. Isaac Newton in 1676 said it best when he said “If I had seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” This can be interpreted as, you can be lifted by those who are ahead of you enough to see beyond the horizon to see your clear vision.
The rewards await those who make no excuses.
If you don’t have time to indulge yourself in a book, audio books I find save a lot of time as you can be doing two tasks at once. The best advice I got from my second mentor was this “Read a lot of books as success leaves clues, you may find inspiration or creative thoughts that may come to you to create something outstanding.”
I grew up with an average education through an average school system with average teachers, teaching average knowledge and skills to average students. I never read much through school and outside of school I never touched a book. It wasn’t too much later in life that I devoted more time and effort into self education and personal development.
“Formal education will make you a living, self education will make you a fortune.”
I was determined to learn as much as I could and I found that by reading in short burst when I had a spare 20-30 minutes I would eventually complete an entire book. Later I found writing down notes into a personal journal and then later reading the writings back to myself helped me to remember all of the most important teachings and helped process them to memory.
Network with truly influential people as they will build you up.
You should be trying to meet as many influences as possible as these people will assist in improving you. Finding local meetup groups and joining niche groups on your favorite social media platforms are a great starting point to find people who possess all of the qualities you wish to have or have accomplished all of the things you’ve always dreamed of doing.
Just keep in mind that the people that you’re meeting have possibly been in your position too. They remember how they first started their business. They can recall the determination and effort it took be be successful. It’s only when you put them up upon a pedestal that they look down on you. So be mindful to keep a level head, do your due diligence and take from your experience with them some practical knowledge or insight that you can apply to your life and/or business.
By networking with other individuals you’ll gain insights into areas of your business and ideas to improve yourself and you might find great business partners or consultants, marketers, gurus, freelancers, different products and services you can apply to your business.
You don't get rich by wishing your way to success.
The possibilities are endless but the advantages out way the alternative of sitting at home or in the office and procrastinating about getting work done and questioning why it’s taking much longer than anticipated to achieve your goals by testing what’s working and what not working. You can instead learn from those who have successfully found trends that are working for them which you can apply to your own business model.
Growing your circle of influences.
The best way to build your network is to start building relationships before you need anything, and that means building relationships without expectations. Like minded individuals will attract like minded individuals. Think of ways you can add value to your network. The experience that you can bring to the table from the knowledge that you have acquired.
Buddha said “When the student is ready the teacher will appear.” Behind every successful person in history has been a mentor who's inspiration and passed on knowledge has shaped leaders, enlightened thinking and influenced the greatness within man.
